The dRPC holds that sustainable social change requires capacity building, orientation and awareness creation amongst public sector decision makers and implementers to understand their role in a participatory development process. Most dRPC interventions, allocate almost 50% of resources to building capacity through study tours and training for public sector functionaries. To do so, the dRPC formed effective partnerships with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, by signing an MOU for collaboration in 2006. The dRPC is also collaborating with the Apex public sector training organization – the Centre for Management Development. The Centre’s activities and projects in support of the public sector include:
- Conducted needs assessment and designed TOT workshops for 50 senior staff of the Centre for Management Development (CMD) Lagos, FCT and the National Planning Commission (NPC) MDG Bench-marking staff on Budget Tracking and Gender based Budgeting.
