Policy, Legislative advocacy and budget work

To deliver on its change mission, the dRPC considers policy and legislative advocacy to be an important body of work. To do so, the dRPC customised and developed tools, mechanisms, and processes to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations to undertake evidence-informed policy and legislative advocacy. dRPC CSO strengthening initiatives include – Training and mentoring programs; Manuals; and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Protocols. In doing so, we aim to equip and empower Nigerian civil society organisations with skills, competency, and techniques to design, carry out and track the impact of evidence-informed advocacy to policy and legislative targets in government at national, sub-national and sub-state levels.

National and State Annual budgets are foundational documents and sources from which evidence is generated for evidence-informed advocacy. The dRPC’s budget work strengthens the capacity of CSOs to effectively analyse annual budgets; track releases; monitor cash backing; and assess budget performance as the evidence base for policy and legislative advocacy.
