Call for Applications

Thousands of local NGOs in Nigeria have had to cancel high-impact activities since January 2025 in response to recent funding cuts. Locally registered Nigerian NGOs that have had to suspend activities on gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, school safety for girls, women’s health, gender-based violence prevention, and social justice are invited to submit applications for a rapid response fund of up to N5 million. 
Activities supported under the NSI-Grant must be implemented within 3 months and designed to include partnerships with communities and government at any level. To apply for the NSI-Grant, registered NGOs are invited to submit a 4-page Expression of Interest (EoI), in Times Roman Font 12, 1.5-line space, providing the information below:

Expression of Interest Guidelines

  1. Description of the activity with objectives and beneficiaries by numbers, demographic composition, and location
  2. Evidence that the activity was approved previously but cancelled due to funding cuts
  3. An updated 3-month work plan
  4. Monitoring and evaluation plan
  5. Budget with lines on personnel, direct, M&E, indirect 5%
  6. Profile of the NGO with evidence of registration and information on updated CAC and tax compliance status

Successful NGOs are required to participate in a 4-module virtual training programme on:- project management; evidence-informed advocacy; financial accountability and compliance; and social behavioural change communication. High-performing NGOs which excel in this grant, will be recommended to social impact investors for scale up and sustainability support.

Application Rounds 
Applications open on 1st May 2025 for Round 1, which close on the 30th May 2025.  Applications will reopen again on 1st July, for Round 2 and will close on 1st August 2025.  All Round 2 grants must close out and final reports submitted on or before November 31st 2025. All applications will be acknowledged, and we will endeavour to provide feedback to all applicants.

Applications will be assessed based on their potential to impact positively on the lives of women and girls, particularly through policy change and/or the provision of infrastructure, strengthening of systems, and shifting of social norms and behaviours. Capacity for NGOs to scale up and becoming future leaders in the field will also be considered.

The NSI-Grant is an initiative of the development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC).  The dRPC is Nigeria’s leading intermediary non-profit with 32 years of experience sub-granting and strengthening capacity for local CSOs working for gender equality; third sector resilience; and social justice & inclusion in development and humanitarian domains. The dRPC is implementing the NSI with the kind support of the Ford Foundation (Office of West Africa), Nigeria.

Not necessarily, the EoI calls for full disclosure on the leadership and management of the NGO applying, but it is not mandatory that NGOs be women-led?

The minimum requirement for the NGOs registration and active programming for the NSI is 5 years.

NGOs from any LGA or state in Nigeria are eligible to apply

All grant awards must be completed in 3 months. Your application should attach evidence of an invitation to apply; call for proposal or evidence that the platform for submission no longer exist for consideration.
