Uppsala University Postdoctoral Fellowship in Peace & Conflict (2025-2027)

About the Fellowship

Uppsala University’s Department of Peace and Conflict Research invites applications for 1-2 postdoctoral researchers for its project “Political Violence in Democracies”, funded by a Wallenberg Scholar grant. The fellowship runs for two years, beginning 1 December 2025 (or as agreed), and is designed for scholars researching democratic values, political behavior, and mechanisms of political violence.

What is Offered

Fellows will lead quantitative data collection and analysis, develop publications in high-impact journals, and collaborate closely with the project’s team and principal investigator. Additional funding is available to cover research-related costs such as travel, survey work, data gathering, and dissemination. Teaching opportunities may be offered.

Eligibility & Criteria

Ideal candidates will hold a PhD (or equivalent) in political science, peace and conflict studies, or another related discipline by the start date. Applicants must demonstrate strong methodological skills—particularly in quantitative methods like experiments or surveys—and have scholarly publications relevant to political behavior, democratic values, or violence studies. Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required.
