UN OHCHR Youth4Rights Advisory Group 2026

Young human rights advocates and changemakers from around the world are invited to apply for the UN OHCHR Youth4Rights Advisory Group 2026. Established by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the Advisory Group forms part of the Global Alliance for Human Rights, a global initiative designed to strengthen commitment to human rights and promote inclusive participation in public life.

The Youth4Rights Advisory Group will bring together 12 young leaders from diverse backgrounds to help shape, promote, and support the work of the Global Alliance for Human Rights. Selected members will contribute youth perspectives to global human rights discussions and support initiatives aimed at advancing human rights awareness, advocacy, and engagement worldwide.

Responsibilities

Members of the Advisory Group will:

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Global Alliance initiatives;
  • Promote human rights and Global Alliance activities through outreach and social media campaigns;
    Support youth engagement and participation efforts;
    Participate in relevant events, consultations, and activities linked to the Global Alliance for Human Rights.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be between 18 and 28 years old as of 12 August 2026;
  • Have at least two years of experience contributing to human rights or related causes at the local or national level.
  • Demonstrate working-level proficiency in English;
  • Be committed to advancing human rights and youth participation.

Time Commitment and Duration

Successful applicants will be expected to dedicate approximately eight hours per month to Advisory Group activities. The initial mandate will run from 12 August 2026 to 31 December 2027, with the possibility of extension until December 2028.
