Applications are now open for the UNDP Pan-African Incubation Programme for CreativeTech Startups 2026, an initiative under the timbuktoo Launchpad through the timbuktoo Creatives Hub, hosted in South Africa. The programme is designed to support promising African startups developing technology-driven solutions for the creative economy by providing incubation, mentorship, digital tools, and access to a continent-wide innovation ecosystem.

The programme seeks to strengthen Africa’s growing creative economy by helping startups scale innovative solutions across industries such as digital media, animation, gaming, music, film, design, immersive technologies, creator economy platforms, and AI-powered creative solutions. Through structured incubation and expert support, participating startups will be better positioned for sustainable growth and investment readiness.

Programme Benefits

Selected startups will receive:

  • Structured incubation delivered by leading African incubators;
  • Access to experienced mentors, entrepreneurs, and industry experts;
  • Membership in a pan-African network of founders, investors, and innovation partners;
  • Access to the Seedstars SIGMA platform for learning, mentorship, AI-powered guidance, and progress tracking;
  • Investment readiness support, including pitch development and investor engagement;

Opportunities to participate in demo days, ecosystem events, and potential acceleration programmes.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be based in Africa or be building solutions for African markets;
  • Have a working prototype or Minimum Viable Product (MVP);
  • Have a committed founding team;
  • Be developing a technology-enabled solution for the creative economy;
  • Demonstrate strong potential for growth and scalability.

Women-led startups, youth-led enterprises, and founders from underserved communities are especially encouraged to apply.

Eligible Innovation Areas

The programme welcomes startups working in areas including:

  • Digital media and content creation;
  • Animation and gaming;
  • Music and film technologies;
  • Design and fashion technology;
  • Creator economy platforms;
  • Immersive technologies (AR/VR);
  • AI-enabled creative solutions;
  • Other technology-driven innovations supporting Africa’s creative industries.

How to Apply

Interested startups should complete the online application through the official timbuktoo Launchpad platform. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with successful startups admitted into quarterly cohorts. The first cohort begins in September 2026, followed by new cohorts every three months. Early applications are encouraged.
