About the Opportunity
Applications are now open for the 2026 Accelerate Africa Startup Programme, an accelerator designed to support bold and visionary African founders building scalable businesses that address critical challenges across the continent. The programme is targeted at early-stage startups and provides founders with mentorship, strategic guidance, operational support and access to a network of experienced entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem leaders.
Accelerate Africa aims to help founders strengthen their business foundations, prepare for growth and position their ventures for global competitiveness. The programme selects a cohort of 10 startups and offers intensive support tailored to the realities of building businesses in African markets.
Focus Areas
The programme focuses on five critical pillars of startup growth:
- Storytelling and brand positioning
- People and operations
- Go-to-market strategy
- Product development
- Fundraising readiness and investor engagement
What the Fund Supports
Selected founders will receive:
- One-on-one coaching and mentorship
- Strategic advisory support
- Access to experienced founders, operators and investors
- Legal, financial and technical office hours
- Business operations guidance
- Investor network access
- Peer learning opportunities within the cohort
The programme is equity-free and does not require founders to give up ownership upon admission. Following completion of the programme, startups may be considered for optional investment opportunities ranging from $250,000 to $500,000 through the Accelerate Africa Fund and Future Africa, subject to due diligence and investment approvals.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should:
- Be based in Africa
Be founders of an early-stage startup - Be building a scalable and impact-driven business
- Have a strong understanding of the problem they are solving and their target customers
- Demonstrate traction, proof of concept or strong market potential
- Have at least one co-founder
- Be committed to scaling their venture and preparing for growth and investment opportunities ([Music In Africa][3])
