Applications are now open for the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) 8th Intergenerational Retreat (IGR 8) 2026, a fully funded leadership programme that will bring together 40 outstanding young African women leaders from across the continent and the Diaspora in Libreville, Gabon, in December 2026. The retreat aims to strengthen women’s leadership through mentorship, skills development, networking, and cross-generational collaboration.
The Intergenerational Retreat is AWLN’s flagship leadership platform, designed to connect emerging women leaders with experienced policymakers, Heads of State, business executives, and other influential leaders working to advance Africa’s development in line with the African Union Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Selected participants will receive:

- Mentorship from high-level African women leaders, including Heads of State, Vice Presidents, ministers, and CEOs;

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be African women from the continent or the Diaspora;
- Be 18 to 45 years old;
- Demonstrate measurable impact within their communities;
- Be actively contributing to one or more of AWLN’s thematic pillars, including:
- Peace and Security;
- Governance and Political Participation;
- Financial Inclusion, Economic Development, Natural Resources and Mining;
- Agriculture, Rural Economy and Land;
- Social Mobilisation;
- Youth and Emerging Leaders.
Participant Expectations
Successful applicants are expected to:
- Participate actively in all retreat sessions and collaborative activities;
- Share their experiences and contribute to intergenerational learning;
- Build lasting partnerships across sectors and countries;
- Serve as AWLN ambassadors by promoting women’s leadership and gender equality;
- Apply the knowledge gained to strengthen initiatives within their communities after the programme.
