BAOBAB

Grantee Name: BAOBAB

Location: Lagos

Project Summary: This project is designed to enhance women’s political participation and leadership in Lagos State, while contributing to broader national goals for gender equality and inclusive governance in Nigeria. Although geographically focused on Lagos, the initiative is strategically aligned with national frameworks and leverages networks that can influence policy and participation beyond the state.

Key objectives include fostering collaboration among elected and appointed women politicians to advocate for laws that promote meaningful gender inclusion, and supporting the National Forum of Female Politicians for More (NFP4More) to drive the revival and passage of gender equity bills in the Lagos State House of Assembly. The project also seeks to increase the number of women—particularly young women and women with disabilities—contesting for elective positions at both local and state levels. Through targeted media advocacy, it aims to raise public awareness of the importance and impact of inclusive political representation, thereby strengthening democratic participation in Nigeria.
