About the Fellowship
The Center for African Studies Visiting Fellowships 2027 at the University of California, Berkeley is a fully funded opportunity designed for Africa-based scholars to advance high-quality, independent research. The programme provides time, space, and access to world-class academic resources to support fellows in completing major scholarly work, including journal articles or books, while engaging with a vibrant intellectual community.
Fellows will also contribute to the academic life of the Center by interacting with faculty and mentoring scholars, fostering meaningful exchange between African institutions and UC Berkeley.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be based in an African country and affiliated with a university, research institution, or NGO
- Hold a PhD (awarded on or before January 2022)
- Demonstrate strong research potential and academic contributions
- Submit a research project aligned with or relevant to African studies
Preference may be given to research addressing themes such as youth, labor, livelihoods, mobility, displacement, technology, democracy, and futures.
