 The development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC), in collaboration with ALiGN ODI-UK, held a significant workshop on October 31st, 2023. The workshop titled “Gender Research in Nigeria Information Dissemination
Workshop” aimed to present and discuss the extensive research study titled “Gender Norms, Media Narratives, and Women in Appointive Positions in Nigeria.” The research methodology was comprehensive, employing a content analysis technique of media reports on five women and five men relieved from the same national-level appointive position at different intervals between 2011 and 2022. The study also conducted Key Informant Interviews with 20 women appointed in five other states: Borno, Kano, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, and Oyo—this fusion of content analysis and key informant interviews allowed for a nuanced understanding of the issue.
