dRPC hosts Hisbah Training on GBV during the 16 days of activism for improvement in managing GBV cases with backings of Sharia Laws and VAPP and Related Laws

With support from the Ford Foundation, dRPC is improving the Hisbah’s understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and limitations in addressing GBV in northern Nigeria, yielding interstate collaboration, strengthened operational structure, consciousness of legal Islamic backings in addressing issues, and candid awareness creation on the roles of Hisbah in the community across five states.
In alignment with the 16 Days of Activism 2023, the dRPC conducted the 2nd Annual Sensitization Workshop for Hisbah commanders from Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara to assess the progress made in addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the respective states and to engage in discussions regarding the adoption of lawful and ethical approaches for Hisba operations since the 2022 capacity building and sensitization workshop on “The Role of State Hisbah in Protecting Women and Girls from Gender-Based Violence – Applying Islamic Perspectives”.
