dRPC trained Muslim Opinion Leaders (MOLs) Speak on GBV Prevention at the Barka Da Warhaka  Live Radio Show in Kaduna

The dRPC trained MOLs conducted a sensitization program to disseminate insights gained during their Peer-to-Peer Study Tour in Egypt on Islamic perspectives for the protection of women and girls from Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The radio sessions aimed to raise public awareness of the role Islamic principles play in GBV prevention. The talk show was conducted on the 14th & 16th October 2024 at the Freedom Radio Kaduna (92.9FM) during the Barka Da Warhaka Morning Show anchored by Abubakar Jidda Usman from 8am- 10am.

Hosted for the show were Dr. Goni Muhammad Khamis; the Chief Imam, Tudun Wada Yan Lilo Mosque, Kaduna, Hajiya Hadiza Umar; the Secretary General, FOMWAN Kaduna State Chapter, Hajiya Rabi Salisu and the Honourable Commissioner of Human Services and Social Development, Kaduna State.

Outcomes/Achievements:

  • Increased Public Awareness: Educate listeners on Islamic teachings regarding GBV and the role of Islamic leaders in GBV prevention.
  • Community Engagement: Engage listeners through live contributions on GBV issues.
  • Interventions: Freedom Radio Kaduna requested the MOLs to continue the program on free of charge due to the public interest in more educational and sensitization to further support GBV prevention initiatives in Kaduna state.
