FAMILY PLANNING COMMODITIES PROCUREMENT: PAS COALITION PARTNERS KDHSMA TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS

The PAS coalition in Kaduna state is partnering with the Kaduna State Health Services Management Agency (KDHSMA) to follow up with the UNFPA to speed up FP commodities procurement to improve unmet needs in the state.

It will be recalled that the Kaduna State Government got approval to procure FP commodities from the Federal Ministry of Health to procure FP commodities directly from the international vendors, especially from the UNFPA.

PAS coalition revealed that an implementation memo was sent to KDHSMA to follow up the process with the identification of UNFPA, who agreed to do the procurement internationally when the process is completed.

Accordingly, the KDHSMA is making an effort to secure a copy of the MOU agreed with UNFPA to speed up the procurement.

The PAS coalition will continue to engage the KDHSMA to ensure that the FP commodities were procured to improve unmet needs for FP services in the state

Meanwhile, the Kaduna state primary healthcare management agency has trained 70 health personnel on Post-Partum-FP care. The training was conducted along with others as follows: –

65 modified LSS for CHEWS supported by PHCB/MOH.

50 Nurses were trained by the KDSPHA on LSS supported by UNICEF

KDPHDA was said to have distributed available commodities to the facilities but still experiencing shortages with the injectables.

The PAS coalition observed that while various workers’ training may improve the services, shortages of commodities may negatively impact.
