About the Position
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is seeking a Family Planning/Reproductive Health Commodity Security (FP/RHCS) Specialist (NOC) to join its Country Office in Abuja, Nigeria.
As part of UNFPA’s Global Programme to enhance Reproductive Health Commodities Security (GPRHCS), this role provides leadership and technical guidance on family planning and reproductive health commodity strategies. The Specialist will strengthen supply chains, ensure reliable access to contraceptives and reproductive health supplies, and work with national and sub-national stakeholders to advance Nigeria’s health system and family planning commitments.
The role requires strong expertise in logistics, supply chain management, policy development, and advocacy, with a commitment to advancing reproductive health rights and UNFPA’s transformative results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead national efforts in family planning programming and RH commodity security.
- Provide technical guidance on supply chain systems, forecasting, warehousing, and distribution.
- Strengthen national and sub-national health systems to expand access to RH commodities.
- Collaborate with government, UN agencies, NGOs, and donors to build integrated solutions.
- Oversee the UNFPA Supplies Partnership, ensuring availability, choice, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, policy development, and monitoring systems.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Master’s degree in public health, medical sciences, pharmacy, supply chain management, or related field.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in SRH programmes, logistics, or public health systems.
- Strong knowledge of family planning, procurement, supply chain, and pharmaceutical management.
- Experience with national health systems and donor coordination in developing countries.
- Excellent communication skills; fluency in English required.
- Proven ability to work with governments and development partners.
