Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, dRPC, partner on WEE Domestication

In pursuant of the commitment to domesticate the National Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy across the 36 states of the federation, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, and the development Research and Projects Centre, dRPC, have agreed to partner in ensuring that the WEE policy is domesticated at the subnational levels.

In a meeting on Wednesday, 16th April 2025, at the office of the Minister, the dRPC briefed the minister about the efforts so far made to domesticate the WEE policy in eight states: Kaduna, Kano, Plateau, Enugu, Kwara, Cross Rivers, Borno, and Lagos.

The dRPC delegation, led by the Director of Partnerships and Communications, Malam Hassan A Karofi, informed the minister about the progress in the eight states, including the launch of the policy in Kaduna state.

The Minister was also informed about the several partnerships the dRPC has with the ministry, including a working relationship with the Department of Child, Economic Services, and Planning and Research.

In her response, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, commended the dRPC for its work in women’s economic empowerment, gender equity, and child development.

She particularly expressed her appreciation for the budget work dRPC is doing and the evidence being generated, which she said will go a long way in supporting policy implementation in the ministry.

While describing the WEE domestication as a welcome guidance, the Director General, Maryam Babangida, National Women Centre, MBNWCD, Dr Asabe Vilita commended the dRPC for the investment in women’s empowerment and the continuous partnership with the centre in promoting economic development of women in Nigeria.

The dRPC team has in the delegation, Ms Hana Hashim, Business Development and Talent Manager, Alhaji Mansur Ibrahim Galadanci, the Chief Accountant and Mr Kiki Omene, the Communications Officer.
