About the Opportunity
The ICMM Young Leaders Scholarship brings together a cohort of outstanding young professionals and activists working on issues such as biodiversity protection, decarbonisation, responsible mining, and community development. Selected participants join a global platform of over 20,000 young leaders through One Young World, gaining access to high-level dialogue, mentorship, and international networks.
The programme is particularly focused on individuals whose work demonstrates measurable impact and long-term commitment to sustainable development.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive full support to attend the One Young World Summit 2026, including:
- Full funding to attend the Summit in Cape Town
- Access to high-level sessions with global leaders and ICMM executives
- Entry into the One Young World Ambassador Community

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are expected to:
- Be aged between 18 and 35 at the time of the Summit
- Demonstrate leadership in initiatives related to sustainability or environmental impact
- Show proven experience in at least one of the following areas:

- Climate action and decarbonisation
- Responsible natural resource use
- Social impact, community resilience, or human rights
- Sustainability advocacy and awareness
- Be actively involved in impactful work within or outside their professional roles
- Be willing to engage in global peer learning and collaboration
Application Process
The selection process may include:
- Online application submission
- Supporting documentation such as references or proof of impact
- A short pitch video outlining your work and achievements
- Virtual interviews for shortlisted candidates
Only candidates with demonstrated impact and strong leadership potential are shortlisted for final selection.
