Implementation of the Nigeria Family Planning Blueprint (Scale-up Plan)

Family Planning has been proven and universally acknowledged as a method of preventing deaths from pregnancy and childbirth. By preventing pregnancies too early, too frequently, too many times and too early, family planning saves lives. But unfortunately, Nigeria has over the last decade not seen significant improvement in family planning interventions, as many Nigerian states do not have budgetlines for family planning funding.

PACFaH works to promote family planning interventions led to progressive increases in the amount budgeted for Family planning in Nigeria national budget. While funds were allocated following advocacy at family planning states, lack of releases and inadequate late releases of funds were constant challenges affecting the sustainability of the project interventions. However, in collaboration with partner coalition and government champions’ efforts continue to ensure timely releases of allocated family planning funds.
