The Malala Fund has engaged dRPC to undertake a national research study exploring how men and boys can become effective allies in advancing girls’ education in Nigeria. The study will examine the roles of fathers, faith leaders, traditional rulers, policymakers, educators, media actors, and community influencers in shaping social norms and creating an enabling environment for girls to enroll, remain in, and complete school.
Drawing on existing evidence, stakeholder consultations, and ecosystem analysis, the research will identify promising approaches, best practices, risks, and opportunities for strengthening male engagement in support of girls’ education, particularly in North East and North West Nigeria. Findings will inform advocacy, policy dialogue, and practical recommendations for civil society organizations, donors, government stakeholders, and male allies working to advance gender equality in education.
The project will produce a comprehensive research report, policy recommendations, case studies, learning products, and stakeholder dissemination events aimed at strengthening collective action for girls’ education across Nigeria.
