Outreach to Rano (24th October 2016)

Kano emirate council committee on Heaalth (KECCoH) as part of its outreach services conducted its second outreach in the town of Rano, Rano LGA. This activity is part of the series of familiarization visits by the Emir (Sarkin Kano) to sensitize the people of his domain and listen to their challenges and problems. The outreach was conducted in the palace of the District Head of Rano (Sarkin Rano). The Sarkin Rano, represented the Emir of Kano, His Highness Muhammadu Sanusi 11. The KECCoH delegation was led by the Chairman of KECCoH (The District Head of Ajingi Sarkin Yakin Kano), Alhaji Wada Aliyu. In attendance were The chairman of Rano LGA, all the village heads of Rano LGA, Health workers from PHCDA Rano, some members of the community and representatives from international organizations who are partners of KECCoH. While speaking at the occasion the KECCoH Chairman informed that the objectives of the outreach by the Emir are:

1. To sensitize and educate the community on Maternal and Child Health issues.
2. To sensitize and educate the community on Routine Immunizations.
3. To sensitize and educate the community on improving Girl Child Education.

The Emir of Kano in his talk established this Health Committee (KECCoH) with the aim of supporting health programs by establishing good relationship with the government health programs within the state. He then called on all the people to be sending their Children to school most especially the Girl-Child and also to ensure that the health of women is considered very important to the community. Then called on the DH to ensure people comply with these directives.
Sarkin Yaki the KECCoH Chairman In his speech he sensitized the community on the activities concerning maternal and child health, parents should always make their children available for routine immunizations, children education especially that of girl child. This committee has implemented many activities to educate and sensitize communities on different health issues.
