The Partnership for Advocacy in Child and Family Health at Scale (PACFAH@Scale) virtually took part in the FP 2030 Second Stakeholder meeting that took place at Tahir Hotel in Kano state from the 12TH – 16TH JULY 2021. This meeting was organised in order to further refine the first draft along the themes on different focus areas of FP 2030 partnership, discuss the scale up strategies, re-commitment process and the zero draft of the document in Nigeria’s FP 2030 partnership commitments and agreed on next step and timeline.
Participant for the meeting were drawn from the FMOH, NPHCDA, FMoWA, SPHCB, SMOH, dRPC-PAS, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), World Health Organization (WHO), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), John Snow Incorporated, Pathfinder International, Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN), Marie Stopes International Nigeria, SOGON-PAS, Track20, Mid-Space, JHUCCP Nigeria, Africa Health Budget Network, University of Jos, Civil Society organizations, Association for Advancement of Family Planning, (YLO) and Global Health Hub Initiative.
PAS’s participation in this meeting came in the form of refining the FP2030 re-commitment process objective 3&4, rationale and strategies alongside other groups. It is worth noting that objective 3 is to improve financing for FP through expansion in the fund allocation from 0.29% of health budget to 1% of the National, State and LGA Health budgets and leveraging on existing and additional innovative domestic financing mechanisms within the next 5 years to reduce Nigeria’s unmet needs for FP. Whilst objective 4 focuses on Strengthening the National and Sub National multi-stakeholder Accountability Mechanisms including CSOs and the media structures.
