PAS was invited by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) to provide strategic support for the SEC 44 report due for the parley session with Mr. President and the line ministries.

Following this, PAS worked with technical experts with professional experience to support the technical inputs in the parley report development of SEC 44 which focused on the theme – Strengthening Local Governance in Nigeria, challenges, options, and opportunities.

PAS is supporting NIPSS to be a change agent with their findings and recommendations as part of the process for policy formulation and implementation in Nigeria. Two recommendations champion CSO accountability role and increased citizens engagement.

Recommendation Six – The Federal Government, State Governments, and Civil Society Organisations should strengthen transparency and accountability in Local Governments.

Recommendation Eight – Governments at all levels should institutionalize inclusive and participatory citizen engagement in local governance.
