Location: Bauchi

Project summary: Empower HER: Livelihood and Skills Acquisition for Women and Adolescent Girls in Warji LGAs, Bauchi State This project is designed to reduce economic marginalization among women and adolescent girls in Warji LGA by providing practical skills, financial inclusion, and awareness on gender equity. The initiative targets 100 women and girls between the ages of 15–35—including out-of-school adolescents, young mothers, GBV survivors, and women-headed households—through tailored vocational and entrepreneurship training.

Four Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), each comprising 25 participants, will be established and trained to improve access to microfinance and strengthen small-scale enterprises. Beneficiaries of the VSLA groups will also receive business start-up kits to launch or expand income-generating activities.

The project includes a strong advocacy component, with community outreach and media engagement (including radio jingles) to promote women’s rights, economic justice, and gender inclusion.

Key activities include participant selection through community engagement, vocational training in trades such as tailoring, soap making, baking, hairdressing, and agro-processing, and ongoing monitoring and learning to track progress and impact. The project will indirectly benefit over 400 community members through economic ripple effects and strengthened social norms around gender equality.
