The CODESRIA 2026 AFRIAK Call for Proposals invites applications from early-career African scholars in the social sciences and humanities. The programme provides financial and technical support for independent or collaborative research addressing critical issues such as governance, economic transformation, climate change, academic integrity, and gender and youth inequalities. AFRIAK seeks to strengthen research capacity, methodological rigor, and knowledge production among emerging scholars based at recognized African institutions.

The Meaning-Making Research Initiatives (MRI) 2026 – Special Call for Female Scholars, hosted by CODESRIA, supports ambitious, collaborative research led by women scholars in Africa. Female-led research groups of 3–5 members are eligible for funding of up to USD 25,000 to implement a 16-month project aligned with CODESRIA’s 2023–2027 thematic priorities, including democratization, economic transformation, and ecology and society. The call aims to strengthen the visibility and leadership of women in African social science and humanities research, encouraging innovative and non-traditional knowledge production approaches.
