The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, has written to the DRPC to serve as a member of the stakeholder consultative forum on the new education sector renewal initiative (ESRI). The letter describes the dRPC as an NGO providing technical support and the CSO voice in the development of a new direction in Education.
In a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Minister of Education, Mrs Anigbogu. O. J, the Minister said the dRPC, along with other partners, donors, and CSOs, will work to identify the current gaps and challenges and support the identification of the priorities within the 2024- 2027 Education Renewal Initiatives (ESRI).
A stakeholder engagement was held on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024, at the UBEC Digital Resource Centre in Abuja. The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, the Minister for State Education, Dr Suwaiba Sa’id, the World Bank, UNICEF, FCDO, UNESCO, AfDB, CSOs, and the Media were in attendance.
At the meeting, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa and Dr Suwaiba Sa’id presented their Six-Agenda for the revitalisation and revamping of the Education sector.
The New Education Sector Renewal Initiative has the following focus areas: prioritised interventions to revamp the education sector, with the dRPC as the leading CSO voice.
- STEMM- Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medical Sciences
- Technical and Vocational Training- Using the 80/20 approach to vocational training in collaboration with partners, private sector and NELFUND
- Tackling Out of School Children phenomenon- Through the integration of formal education within the Almajiri and IQTE structure
- Girl-Child Education – Through increasing access and improvement of literacy numeracy for the girl-child
- Data and Digitisation- Through building data architecture and strengthening the education management system in Nigeria
- Education Quality Assurance- Through focusing on Teacher production, development, and professionalism
NEXT STEPS
A Technical Working Group, with the dRPC as a member, is going to be set up to continue to support the Ministry of Education is achieving the target as espoused in the Six Points agenda under the Education Sector Renewal Initiative (ESRI)
