The District Head Of Gandi Initiates Ways To Lessen Maternal Mortality By Working With Stakeholders In His Local Government
Alhaji Muhammad Maccido who is in his sixties is the district head of Gandi one
of the prominent towns of Raba local government of Sokoto state. He was
privileged to be part of the USAID/dRPC team who attended Egypt study tour
between July and August 2009 for leadership and reproductive health in Islam
Zamfara state Islamic scholars and traditional leaders (ISOLs)
On their return from a 2-week Egypt study tour on family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH) in August 2009, Islamic scholars and traditional leaders (ISOLs) of the three programming states of Niger, Sokoto and Zamfara became well conversant with the position and provisions made by Islam on FP/RH. Their actions towards FP/RH take a new dimension with consistent vibrancy to achieve their goal for the better of their people.
