From 8th to 11th October, the CICAD Conference Centre in Dakar, Senegal hosted the 19th Annual Meeting of the Grand Challenges and its partners. This prestigious event brought together distinguished global researchers, innovation and R&D funders, and policymakers from over 75 countries to deliberate on the expansion of science and innovation frontiers aimed at improving and saving lives. The meeting was co-hosted by the Government of Senegal and the Global Grand Challenges network of partners, and was sponsored by Grand Challenges Canada, the United States Agency for International Development, Wellcome, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. At the event, attendees were treated to a poster presentation by the dRPC on the intersectionality of climate change and women’s health. The presentation outlined a seven-point strategy for implementing systems-level climate adaptation in Nigeria, highlighting the importance of addressing this key issue to improve the health and well-being of women and the wider community. The dRPC is currently collaborating with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies to institute an accountability mechanism for Climate adaptation in Nigeria. |
