PACFaH Dissemination takes place at the National Health Dialogue

The National Health Dialogue is a platform that brings together stakeholders in the Health and Development sectors to discuss the Challenges and Prospects of Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria.

DATE: AUGUST  24 ─ 25, 2017

OBJECTIVES OF THE DIALOGUE

The overall objective of the Dialogue is to convene a discussion on the Universal Health Coverage to highlight and document the challenges of quality, affordable comprehensive health care for Nigerians and proffer actionable solutions.

The following are specific objectives of the dialogue:

  • To acquaint participants with existing barriers to actualizing Universal Health Coverage;
  • To learn lessons from the PACFaH Project’s advocacy for health policy change;
  • To map out an advocacy action plan towards realizing a comprehensive Universal Health Coverage that would be appropriate for all Nigerians;
  • To initiate the process of interministerial coordination on sustainable healthcare financing at federal and state levels;
  • To outline strategies to improve the role of the media’s advocacy and accountability roles towards achieving Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria; and
  • Agree on a road-map of specific actions that the stakeholders will undertake to institutionalize the Dialogue.

Since the enactment of the National Health Bill in 2014, there have been several efforts targeted towards the provision of quality, affordable health care for all Nigerians. However Nigeria is yet to achieve the goals of Universal Health Coverage.

The Dialogue aims to create awareness of the barriers to actualizing Universal Health Coverage; to learn key lessons from the PACFaH project’s advocacy for health policy change; and to map out an advocacy action plan towards realizing a comprehensive UHC.

This event is also expected to culminate in the development of actionable strategies for sustainable health care financing in Nigeria.
